Area Information

Situated in the thriving City of London, the Royal Exchange dates back to the mid 1500s, when Sir Thomas Gresham created it with a view to making it a commercial hub within the area. The Royal Exchange is located next to Threadneedle Street, home to the Bank of England. It lies at the centre of the financial district in a bustling area. The Royal Exchange building that stands today is actually the third, as the first two were destroyed by fire, the first falling victim to the Great Fire of London in 1666. Today you will find a variety of shops and boutiques at the Royal Exchange, providing a shopaholic’s paradise in the middle of London’s financial hub.

Business Information

The Royal Exchange is home to a number of upmarket retailers and boutiques, and there are also various businesses that occupy office space in the area. Being part of the financial district means that you will find several finance companies based here, including financial advisors and stockbrokers.

Entertainment And Dining Out

For those looking for evening entertainment, there is plenty to choose from close to the Royal Exchange. You can enjoy live music at the Drum Cafe, classical music at Barbican Hall or head to the theatre for a live performance. You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out, as there are so many options to choose from. Enjoy great Chinese at Imperial City, sample fine French cuisine at Sauterelle or let the Royal Exchange Grand Cafe serve you up some delightful seafood.

Transport Information

In the immediate vicinity you will find Bank Tube Station. Monument Tube Station is also nearby, making it easy to benefit from the Underground network. The Royal Exchange is also very close to both Cannon Street and Moorgate railways stations, so you can access mainline services with ease. Nearby secure parking facilities will prove ideal for those driving in the area, while those who prefer not to drive can benefit from reliable bus and taxi services.
