About Oxford Street

Oxford Street in the West End of London is best known as the most popular and well-known shopping destinations in the UK. Its hundreds of shops draw visitors by the million to the City of Westminster each year. There are few more vibrant places in the world than Oxford Street and the roadís majestic architecture is steeped in history and fashionable tradition. Running along from the edge of Bloomsbury and Tottenham Court Road, west towards Bond Street and Marble Arch, Oxford Street is a major route through the West End. The road itself is just north of Green Park and Piccadilly Circus, Soho Square and Covent Garden, and a little way south of Regentís Park, Euston and Marylebone.

Setting up your business here

Business interests on Oxford Street are dominated by flagship retail outlets like those of Selfridges, Marks & Spencer, House of Fraser, Debenhams and John Lewis. However, there are a broad variety of commercial companies operating from office space very nearby, including property firms, advertisers and publishing houses. Given the number of visitors that the area attracts, Oxford Street is necessarily well served by a variety of transport networks, including the Tube from Oxford Circus, Bond Street and Tottenham Court Road, and a near constant stream of buses and taxis. The City and Canary Wharf and easily accessible from Oxford Street, as are all areas around Euston, Mayfair, Westminster and Bloomsbury.

Things to do in Oxford Street

The most popular and obvious pastime in Oxford Street is shopping but there are also all manner of excellent places to dine out or dance the night away. Roads running either north or south from Oxford Street itself tend to have at least a few bars, pubs or restaurants for visitors to choose from. One such road worth wandering along is James Street, on which youíll find Atari-Ya Sushi Bar and the Lamb and Flag pub in close proximity, along with a Lebanese eatery called Massis and outlets of La Tasca and the Scotch Steak House. The beating heart of the area though is Oxford Circus, which lies roughly half way along the famous street and which leads into a variety of less prominent and perhaps a little more charming retail destinations and boutique stores.
