About Battersea

Battersea is an inner-city area of London, within the Borough of Wandsworth on the south bank of the River Thames. For much of its history, Battersea functioned as an agricultural area, providing more central and northern populations of London with food. The creation of several large bridges from west London into Wandsworth helped Battersea develop as an industrial centre during the 18th and 19th centuries. The most famous local landmark, Battersea Power Station, was built between the two world wars and further cemented the area’s position as an important industrial region along the Thames and within London. Battersea is very close to a number of very exclusive parts of London, including Chelsea, Fulham and Putney, and has been the subject of large-scale regeneration efforts since the decline of heavy industry in the area in the second half of the 20th century.

Setting up your business here

Battersea is exceptionally well positioned from a business perspective because it lies very near to vital commercial and administrative centres of London including Mayfair, Westminster and Soho. In terms of public transport, Battersea benefits from having several major mainline train stations within its boundaries, including Clapham Junction, which is actually found in Battersea and not Clapham as its name seems to suggest. Businesses based in the area vary in size and include the graphic designers of Aqutint BSC, the architects of Circus, the chartered surveyors Hollis Malcolm and the Spitfire Technology Group, a telecoms service provider.

We offer the following office types & services:

Things to do in Battersea

Walking along the south banks of the Thames, looking towards Chelsea and Westminster, is certainly one of the best things to do in Battersea. As is wandering through Battersea Park, which is a wonderful area of open space that comes complete with its own boating lake, duck pond and children’s zoo. Landmark buildings well worth visiting in the area include the Battersea Arts Centre, a performance space that was once used as the local town hall, and St Mary’s Church, a Grade I listed building where William Blake was once married and JMW Turner painted the surrounding views. There is a great variety of excellent places to eat out in Battersea, with some of the best including Rafayel on the Left Bank, the Lost Angel and the Gaslight Grill, and the ingeniously-named Mediterranean restaurant Fish In A Tie. There are plenty of quality pubs in and around Battersea too, with the Drafthouse on Battersea Bridge, the Duke of Cambridge and the Prince Albert among the best.
