Area Guide Portobello Road

Although Portobello Road was one of the last areas of London to be developed, it is now a bustling and commercial area of the city and home to many businesses, shops and restaurants.

Portobello Road is situated within the upmarket Notting Hill region, close to Kensington and Chelsea, and was a rural location until the 19th century, when it was developed from a large area of green space into a popular residential and retail location.

Today the area is well-known for shopping and has a wide variety of trendy independent shops as well as being home to the world-renowned Portobello Market on Saturdays which is predominantly known for vintage clothing and antiques.
